Free Seminar to discuss Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration New Zealand (MDNZ) is conducting a free public seminar in Invercargill next weekend.

Local ophthalmologist Dr Mark Rudel will provide up-to-date information on treatments, research and the management of Macular Degeneration (MD), a chronic eye disease which is the leading cause of blindness in New Zealand.

MDNZ’s Phillippa Pitcher said their aim was to raise awareness and provide education on this devastating eye disease, as knowledge and early detection can save sight. It affects the central vision and this impacts on a person’s ability to drive, read, watch television, undertake hobbies requiring fine work, access websites and recognise faces.

The seminar will be held at the Kelvin Hotel, 20 Kelvin Street, Invercargill, on Saturday May 27 from 10am to 11.30am. To register to attend, phone 0800 MACULA (622 852), or email info@mdnz.org.nz
